On the Banks of Coldbrook: Songs from the Hills of Dover, VT
CD release concert by Tony Barrand & Keith Murphy with Becky Tracy
In 1919, Edith Sturgis and Robert Hughes published "Songs from the Hills of
Vermont". All the material was from the repertoire of James Atwood and
family of West Dover. Margaret MacArthur later recorded James' son, Fred
Atwood, who knew most of his father's songs. It is a broad-ranging and
delightful collection: from tragic ballads to funny domestic stories to
children's tales. Tony Barrand (of Nowell Sing We Clear) and Keith Murphy
(of Nightingale) have released a CD of the Atwood songs and, in this Dover
Bicentennial year, prepared an account of how summer resident, Edith Sturgis
of "Coldbrook", met and befriended James and Mary Atwood.
TICKETS: $15.00 and $10.00 (seniors and children) at Maple Leaf Music in Brattleboro and

Rani Arbo & Daisy Mayhem
So, what's a daisy mayhem?
Wicked grooves, sublime lead singing, great harmonies, sparkling original songs, and a deep repertoire that spans 200 years of American music. Four people who share an irresistible chemistry on stage. An unusually gleeful string band that celebrates both tradition and improvisation and that stumps the categorizers. (Are they an agnostic gospel band? A homeopathic bluegrass band? Are they crazy?). See and hear! for yourself.

April Verch in concert
April Verch is a Canadian fiddle & stepdancing champion and singer. Though her musical roots lie deep in the fiddling of her native Ottawa Valley, her repertoire also features traditional and contemporary tunes ranging in source and inspiration from Quebecois to the Appalachians, from Bluegrass to Brazilian. EnRoute magazine says “April’s strings burn with energy, whether she’s playing waltzes, airs, reels, or polkas. This is the hottest old time music of the year.” No matter what you call it, April’s music is beguiling in the way it brilliantly balances contemporary élan and traditional resonance.
For more information visit April's website, www.aprilverch.com. Tickets are $15 in advance and $18 at the door. They will soon be available at brattleborotix.com.
