Sandglass Theater presents UNIVERSES in:

Live From the Edge

Sandglass Theater presents the multi-cultural performance company UNIVERSES in Live From the Edge, an evening that showcases the ensemble’s special brand of fusion theater in a "best of" production that tracks the evolution of their poetic language from childhood rhymes and community rituals, to poetry and theater, hip-hop and gospel.

UNIVERSES integrates theatre and street humor with emotional truth, amplifying the issues of poverty, family, drugs, racism, and street violence, yet finding hope in the contemporary urban landscape. Their work brings together the unique mix of language and culture that speaks to life on the American streets, synthesizing traditional theater with poetry, storytelling, rap, gospel, jazz riffs, bluesy laments and Spanish boleros.

UNIVERSES is part of Sandglass Theater's annual spring series, Voices of Community and will be here on a week-long residency at Sandglass Theater. During the week they will work with high school students in the area through a collaboration with Vermont Partnership. The residency and performance are supported by the National Endowment for the Arts and The National Performance Network.

For more information, call Sandglass Theater at 802-387-4051 or visit their website, Sandglasstheater.org.
