I'm Sean Fitzharris and I first became involved with the NEYT after I saw them put on a performance of Treasure Island at my elementary school back in 1998. Immediately after, I enrolled in classes. From then until my graduation from high school, I participated in all the shows and classes I could manage. My absolute favorite show was early in my NEYT career when I played the emaciated tree in A Charlie Brown Christmas. Stephen Stearns (my hero, no lie) bulked up the role for me by giving me lines and making me French. Two other major roles for me were Hawkins in the Court Jester when I was fourteen, and the role of Scapin my Junior year of high school. If I had to guess, I'd say i've done around forty five shows total at NEYT.
Of the many lessons I've learned from the NEYT, the most important ones are:
1) How to control and focus my energy towards the work.
2) How to accept and get along with those who are different from myself.
Currently, I am a student at Wagner College on Staten Island, NY pursuing my BA in Theatre Performance. I will be returning this summer for my first paying gigs at NEYT, co-directing both the Sr. and Jr. Melodrama camps. I will be receiving 25 cents an hour and a roundhouse kick to the face for each.
