I started acting at NEYT when I was 10. My mom told me that they were doing “Winnie the Pooh” at the children’s theater. I had never really been in a play before, but I knew that Winnie the Pooh was a fun story so I decided to audition. I ended up getting the part of Roo, which was a pretty big part (considering it was my first play). I remember being really excited when I found out that I got that part. From then on, I auditioned for every play I could at the theater - I was hooked!
The next play I was in was Oliver. I was an orphan/thief - which was a lot of fun to play. That was when I discovered that I not only loved acting, but I also loved singing in musicals. After that I performed in Jungle Book, Best of Broadway(camp), Night at the Opera, Guys and Dolls, It’s a Wonderful Life, and now Truth. Now I am in eighth grade and I hope to do many more plays throughout high school.
I love NEYT because you get to learn about acting and have fun at the same time. I have made so many friends at NEYT and I really love hanging out there. We always have lots of fun while we are doing shows. We play games, find fun ways to learn lines and songs, and develop a lot of inside jokes. I always look forward to going to NEYT after school and performing in shows.
